As a biotechnology company focused on developing and producing molecular diagnostic products, we recognize our responsibility to minimize our environmental impact and promote sustainable practices in all our operations.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to outline Bioeksen AR GE Teknolojileri A.Åž.’s commitment to environmental sustainability. We aim to set clear guidelines for reducing our environmental footprint, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and fostering a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility throughout the organization. This policy serves as a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets, promoting sustainable practices, and engaging with stakeholders to support environmental initiatives.

In the design of products developed in the last 5 years, Bioeksen aimed to reduce plastic use, energy needs, and storage space. We have successfully reduced the use of plastic by approximately 70% in molecular diagnostic tests used in the field today compared to similar technologies. Recognizing the importance of our environment for our future, we aim to elevate this success with every new product we develop.

Scope

This policy applies to all Bioeksen AR GE Teknolojileri A.Åž. operations, including our production facilities in Istanbul, and covers all employees, contractors, and stakeholders involved in our business activities.

Bioeksen Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP)

Net Zero Commitment

BİOEKSEN’s approach to sustainability is founded on the principle — also reflected among its Corporate Values — of “developing technologies that improve lives, protect our planet, and support a sustainable future.” As a biotechnology company that develops and manufactures molecular diagnostic technologies, BİOEKSEN is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In line with current climate science, this commitment has been embraced as an integral part of the company’s approach to resource efficiency, operational resilience, and long-term corporate value creation.

BİOEKSEN’s approach to climate and sustainability is anchored in a corporate framework through the company’s 2024 Environmental Policy. In addition to legal compliance, the Policy is founded on the efficient use of natural resources, the reduction of energy and water consumption, the prevention of pollution and waste generation, support for recycling and reuse practices, the development of environmental awareness, and the reduction of environmental impact in product design and R&D processes. Carbon Reduction Plan is positioned as one of the core management tools that translates the climate change dimension of these sustainability commitments into practice through measurable targets, greenhouse gas emissions management, and reduction projects.

The 2024 greenhouse gas inventory has been adopted as the reference point in BİOEKSEN’s carbon management and reduction journey. Emission sources are monitored regularly on the basis of this inventory, reduction potential is assessed, and the aim is to track carbon performance in a measurable way in future periods.

Accordingly, BİOEKSEN’s carbon reduction approach is built around improving energy efficiency, optimizing resource use, evaluating low-emission transport and logistics practices, strengthening a sustainable procurement approach, and reducing the environmental impact of products and processes.

The Quality Policy published on 3 June 2026 further supports this approach within a coherent corporate framework. The principles of efficient resource use, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainable value creation are embraced as core elements of BİOEKSEN’s long-term corporate development.

The baseline year emission inventory is the reference inventory that establishes the organization’s greenhouse gas emissions performance prior to the implementation of carbon reduction strategies. This inventory serves as the fundamental reference point for tracking emission reduction targets, assessing performance progress, and measuring future emission reductions on a comparable basis.

BİOEKSEN’s first corporate greenhouse gas emissions inventory was prepared on the basis of 2024 activity data. For this reason, 2024 has been designated as the baseline year against which the organization’s carbon reduction performance will be assessed. As data continuity is established in future reporting periods, the baseline year will be maintained, and annual emissions performance will be tracked and reported on a comparative basis.

Greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated in the Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 categories on the basis of the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and classified in accordance with the reporting principles of ISO 14064-1:2018. Emission calculations use the emission factors published in the IPCC 2006 Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, the Global Warming Potential (GWP100) coefficients published in the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), and, where applicable, the DEFRA 2024 Greenhouse Gas Conversion Factors.

Scope 2 emissions arising from electricity consumption have been calculated using Türkiye’s national grid emission factor, as published by TEİAÅž (Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation). As the organisation does not hold a renewable energy certificate or equivalent market-based evidence of electricity supply, only location-based Scope 2 emissions have been reported under this plan.
